Busy April

As I’ve written before, I started working with a coach in the beginning of April to get my company started more efficiently and faster. Now I have been doing the homework every week, figuring out what my niche could be, meeting people and doing my market research in getting to know whether the niche I’m thinking of even exists. I managed to narrow it down to 3 niches and have done some interviews in all of them. Currently I’m leaning in more towards being the coach who helps small business owners find their own marketing style that works for them and their company. The people I have interviewed so far, have thought that this is a good service that would add value to the small business owners. I have also explained that I want to differentiate between marketing consultant and coach – the former does the work for the owner and gives them a plan, whereas the coach would make the business owner self-sufficient, by working out the best ways to market and training the business owner to see the necessary nuances for going to market.

I have signed up to three different Meetups. Those of you who do not know what a Meetup is – it is a website where like-minded people can organise meetings, seminars, hikes, networking events and send people invites through that. It works because you can search by interest and there is a moderator of the group who approves the applicants. For example there is one for hikers, psychics, South-Asians and Spanish speakers in Calgary, British Expats, etc.  I have signed up for the ones for small business owners. At first with an idea to see what kind of support I can get from the network, but after the first meetup I realised that it is a great networking place. Now I’m trying to meet as many people as possible to find out more about my market. Eventually I might start my own meetup if I find enough like-minded people.
