Yesterday we celebrated the anniversary with my husband of when we decided to give each other a second chance. It was February 10, 2011 when I had flown to London for my CTI coaching course for the weekend and we met up for dinner in London for the third time, but this time we took the courage to take our relationship to the next level.

We celebrated our anniversary at River Cafe on the Prince’s Island in Calgary http://www.river-cafe.com/. We had read the reviews and since it is close by to where we live, we decided to see if it lives up to the expectations. It most definitely did! We were quite full after having a lovely lunch with an Estonian couple who lives in Calgary, but decided to go for just the main course and ended up both choosing Pacific Blue cod. It was very nicely done with lentil mash, Swiss chard and fennel and carrots. The tastes were clean and complemented each other perfectly. I had a glass of Spanish cava to start with and then a glass of Okanagan Valley Pinot Blanc that went really well with the cod. My husband started with gin and tonic and with food had a glass of Italian Pinot Grigio. For dessert we had Calvados and sat by the fireplace to enjoy the atmosphere. When we asked the waiter to take a picture of us and told him that it is our anniversary, he showed up with a lovely surprise – a glass of port wine with chocolate truffle and candied date.

We’ll definitely go back there when we have something to celebrate – it was a great experience.
