Living room furnished

After almost 6 weeks here we have reached some major milestones – the last delivery of furniture arrived today – we now have chairs and a sofa in addition to table, bed and shelves. Sometimes it is refreshing to think that we do not need very much for feeling happy – when they delivered sofa today, I spread myself over it and happily read a newspaper in the corner, enjoying that I don’t have to do it sitting on bed or on a borrowed chair. There are still a few things to do – we have a shelf from IKEA that we need to put together for the den and our major delivery from Estonia has not arrived yet. That means that we have been wearing pretty much the same boots every day for the past 6 weeks (since the weather is quite warm there is no need to wear the cold weather boots that are an alternative) and the same two coats (also one for warmer and the other for colder weather). It has also made me realise that even I am perfectly capable of getting by with only 1/6th of my wardrobe. Thanks to the very efficient washer/dryer system the clothes can be washed and dried within a few hours, but the boredom factor obviously comes in.

The other major milestone for me has been completing the knowledge test for driving and I am now a proud owner of Alberta temporary learner’s driver’s licence. I did study for the test and could have studied more because I got 3 answers wrong, but since 5 mistakes were allowed, then I guess I studied just enough. My Estonian licence was taken away from me and sent to Edmonton. Now I’m waiting for a phone call from someone to tell me if I also have to take the driving test or whether I will get a permanent adult licence based on my driving record from Estonia. But driving a car was not the main purpose behind getting the driver’s licence – it was to get an official Alberta ID so that I can get the paperwork for establishing my company started.

The next major thing is to start a company and also get some clients. Now that we are more of less comfortably settled and also officially accepted, I better get things rolling!
