started already Friday evening, when we went to buy ourselves a new bed. With our move to a new flat on February 1st, we are trying to get as many things done beforehand, so that we wouldn’t have to stay in an empty flat for too long. Fortunately the bed-buying went really well thanks to a wonderful salesman Mark at Sleep Country Mount Royal. We got to try different mattresses and we got also bed frame, mattress cover, pillows and sheets all at one place and they will be delivered on Feb 1st. After successful purchase we went and celebrated with a beer at some pub (not so good, so won’t be going back) and came home to grill some steaks from Natural Food store. Yes, you read right – we grill. There’s a nice grill on the balcony and my husband is delighted to use it. The steaks came out wonderful and tasted very good with a bottle of Jackson Triggs Shiraz.
Saturday started with yoga for me and gym for my husband. Then we did an hour or so on the computer selecting different pieces of furniture from Online Ikea. It is tricky with ordering online from them – they deliver stuff only from central warehouse. If you like something that is available at a local store, then they don’t deliver, unless you go there in person and then order delivery.
Then we went to a yoga class that was more demanding than the ones we have been to before. Both of us actually sweated at the class, although the yoga asanas were much easier than the ones we were doing in Estonia. I think it’s a different attitude here – the teachers don’t want to scare the students too much with difficult classes. In Estonia it’s your own problem if you cannot do it.
After shopping at the local food store, we managed to also go to the movies – to see Quartet. We were laughing when we saw that we were probably the youngest people in the whole auditorium. But the movie was nice and entertaining – a BBC production with good actors.
Sunday was a bit more IKEA ordering and me drawing the plans of the new flat to see what kind of Feng Shui I need to do in order to have good energy in our new flat.
Then we went to try out our local YMCA that was a very good experience. My husband made a tough workout for us and I was very happy to be able to relax afterwards in the steamroom.
Weekend ended nicely with reinstatement of our custom – nice Sunday night dinner together at home. I made lamb from Alberta in the oven, my husband made a lovely tomato, onion salad with cilantro and some sweet potatoes. We enjoyed it with a bottle of NK’MIP Pinot Noir – it is from Okanagan Valley one of the first vineyards by the First Nations.
We were tired by the end of the day and went to bed by 9.30. We really need to have some more relaxing weekends planned!
