Sherlock Holmes – very English pub indeed!

Started from Calgary downtown on a Redarrow bus at 8am this morning and have travelled North towards the capital of Alberta. Weather was super ice and sunny, the landscape – like Estonia without trees (that’s what my husband said). Flat country with little houses scattered across vast territories. One major exception was the amount of super trucks on the highway and rows and rows of truck dealerships on both sides of the road. We had a short stop at Red Deer – third largest city in Alberta and the centre for oil and beef production. Lots of big trucks there as well and locals wearing CAT jerseys.

Edmonton seems bigger than Calgary with its two centres. it also felt colder even though the temperature was more or less the same. We found a charming English pub called Sherlock Holmes where we had local beer and some pub food. The bistro next door was called Moriarty’s.

then we walked for about half an hour to the second centre on the very charming Whyte street where we wondered into a store called When Pigs Fly and had a pot of tea at Bob Marley and Jamaica inspired cafe.

I will update the post with more pictures later, since I seem to be unable to insert photos from Dropbox with my iPad. Also I must add that writing with iPad is a real pain. Most of the time goes to correcting the autocorrect.
